Can you really trust the mechanical properties of a material made by a company that publishes such information using charts about sheer, rather than shear? I think not.

The paper reads, “the allowable sheer strength is 350psi,” then I respond, “I wish I knew what the allowable shear strength is. Nobody has told me yet.”

This project makes me hate my life.

I do this, too! Every project has a sound track, and unfortunately this means I end up hating what would otherwise be a really great album. (I can never like Fleet Foxes because my 3rd year design project report was set to their album)

Yesterday was Residential Applications of Fuel Cells set to The Polyphonic Spree and right now I’m trying to do a beam analysis presentation for a house in New Orleans that can float, but I’m having trouble finding its soundtrack. I thought the Thoroughly Modern Millie soundtrack would do it, but nay! I’ll probably just end up with my fallback study-hard-playlist. That is, The Postal Service. Seriously, I think somebody hyptotized me to be able to concentrate when Give Up plays. I don’t want to overdo it, so I save it for special occasions to help me when I am otherwise unable to concentrate.

Okay so when I watch this I don’t know what to feel. Some of the things are so horrific that you don’t want to believe them, or you can’t believe them, or you’d rather not believe them. Plus, even if its all true, then what the heck am I supposed to do? So mostly I just kind of regret watching it, because I simply don’t know how to interpret and understand it.

I always had the opposite problem (even in my 15,000 word dissertation), and had to bend the word count truth, and hide lots of text in footnotes.

Difference between writing about law and writing about engineering, perhaps?

Well, in engineering we never really have word quotes. It’s usually “write about this topic. Stop writing when you have said everything you feel is necessary.” This is just a really dumb course where the prof decided he wanted us to hate him. There just really isn’t anything left to say, so I’m writing a very thorough conclusion and summary. 3800 words!
